year, NC-HCAP supports a wide range of publications focusing on
health careers. All of our publications are free. Please contact
our office to receive a single copy or to be placed on our mailing

Access
Launched in 1992 as NC-HCAP's official newsletter,
Access highlights health careers, health science programs in
North Carolina, minority health students and minority practitioner
role models, and science enrichment programs for minority or
underrepresented students. In addition, it provides health career
planning tips, career resources and related Internet site information,
and tracks trends in health care and careers in the health sciences.
Access is published each Spring and Fall. The latest issue is
available online.

DATAline
DATAline
is a series of brief statistical reports gauging the presence
of minority licensed or certified practitioners in North Carolina
in the following fourteen health professions: chiropractors,
dental hygienists, dentists,
licensed practical nurses,
nurse practitioners, optometrists,
pharmacists, physical
therapists, physical therapy
assistants, physicians,
physician assistants, psychologists,
psychology associates,
and registered nurses. A comprehensive
overview is also available.
Data are provided by the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health
Services Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill. Population statistics are provided by the US Census
Bureau. DATAline is published every two years.

Health
Science Enrichment Programs for Minority and Disadvantaged
Students
This
directory lists
academic year and summer enrichment opportunities for minority
students interested in health careers. Enrichment programs
listed target kindergarten through graduate-level students
and include programs, internships, research opportunities
and post-baccalaureate programs within North Carolina and
across the country. All available program details are provided
along with whom to contact for more information and to make
application.
