Ambassadors
Membership in the Ambassador Program
One major membership
drive for new Ambassadors is held each March for current students
at UNC, with a mini-membership drive held each September for new
freshman. Once selected, many Ambassadors desire to continue
their service with NC-HCAP for the duration of their academic careers.
This is contingent upon the student meeting the expectations for
the position.
Membership
Selection Factors
Applicants
must:
- be
full-time pre-professional health sciences students at UNC-Chapel
Hill
- demonstrate
an interest in a health career
- have
a minimum 2.5 GPA
- have
demonstrated leadership and community service experience
- participate
in a five-minute interview with selection panel
Membership
Requirements
All
members must adhere to the following requirements:
- attend
General Body meetings (fall & spring)
- attend
New Member Retreat
- attend
NC-HCAP seminars and conferences whenever possible
- attend
meetings and participate in activities within their respective
committees
- volunteer
in the NC-HCAP office
- participate
in all group fundraising efforts
- represent
at all NC-HCAP official functions (i.e. Health Professions Forums,
Inspirational Speakers in Science Lectures, etc.)
- submit
dues in a timely fashion ($10 for current members/$15 for new
members)
All
members should participate at least five (5) of the following activities
annually:
- Ambassador
fundraising events
- Ambassador
Pit-sitting events
- Ambassador-sponsored
community service activities (Ronald McDonald House, blood drives,
Relay for Life, etc.)
- additional
programs offered by NC-HCAP
This
list reflects the minimum requirements of activity for annual membership.
Members are urged to complete more than the minimum requirements.
Additional events may be planned turing the year for which members
will receive credit for their participation.
